Catherine Garrell , age 94, of Whiteville North Carolina passed peacefully on July 31, 2026 at Liberty Commons Hospice where, the heavenly angels escorted her to heaven. Catherine Garrell was born on May 1, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Edith Garrell. She was also preceded in death by a son Samuel Sharp.

A lifelong resident dedicated to her beliefs, Catherine was an avid Christian and was a lifetime member of Tabor City Baptist Church. Her devotion to her church extended beyond attendance; over the years, she served in many roles, contributing her time and energy to furthering the mission of the church and supporting its congregation. Catherine's faith was matched by her commitment to study and personal growth. She loved participating in Bible study and reading, continually seeking to deepen her understanding and lived by example.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hannis (Jim) of Virginia; Robert Ruiz of Austin, Texas; Alan Ruiz of Whiteville. She also had several grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Amber McLean, Christopher Ruiz, Brad Blie, Hannah Ruiz, Kevin Ruiz, Zachary Hannis, and great grandchildren.Dylan, Zelda, Caden, Cody. Catherine also had a very dear close friend, Jamie Wright.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2:00PM at Clarkton Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church: 24 S Page Rd, Clarkton, NC 28433 with Reverend Charlie Tatum Officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you make a donation to Liberty Commons Hospice at Liberty Commons nursing home in Whiteville, North Carolina.
