Edwin Wayne Martin

Mr. Edwin Wayne Martin of Bladenboro was born on January 6, 1942 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning December 2, 2025 at his residence. Wayne was 83 years of age.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, December 4, 2025, 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the Bladenboro Funeral Chapel.

Throughout his career as a police officer, Wayne was known not only for his professional dedication but also for his vibrant personality. A true jokester, he had an innate ability to bring smiles to the faces of those around him. He was deeply loved and respected by his colleagues and the community he served. Wayne's approach to life was grounded in his faith; he loved the Lord and found joy in sharing that joy with others.

Wayne was a man who never met a stranger. His friendly demeanor and warm heart made it easy for him to forge connections with those he encountered. Whether he was riding his golf cart through town or proudly driving his beloved Dodge trucks, Wayne had a way of brightening any situation with his infectious laughter and gracious nature.

His passions extended beyond his service in law enforcement. Wayne had a deep appreciation for bluegrass music, which provided a soundtrack to many cherished moments with family and friends.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of sixty five years, Marjorie Martin, and their three children: Edwin W. Martin, Jr. and his wife Karen, Kyle Martin and his wife Melissa, and Lisa Martin Benton and her husband Perry, a special son Ben Guyton. Wayne's legacy lives on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Leanne (Bud), Edwin (Kimberly), Bridgette, Matthew (Paige) Mason (Lexie), Reed, Taylor (Jason), Winston. Great grandchildren Emily, lan, Rachel, Heath, Zoe, Carter, Kenzie, Conner, Caroline, Charlotte, his sister Ann Britt, sister in law  Daisy Martin many nieces and nephews as many relatives and friends, a special Grandpuppy Cooper.

• He is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Guyton and his father E.D. Martin.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 beginning at 11:00AM in the Grimes Tatum Cemetery: 5364 Owen Hill Rd, Elizabethtown, NC 28337, with Pastor Charles Tatum officiating. 

Wayne Martin will be remembered not only for his contributions to law enforcement but also for the joy and light he brought into the lives of everyone he met. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
