Mr. Haynes Wayland Townsend of Tar Heel was born on March 25, 1944 and passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Wayland was 81 years of age.
Wayland is survived by one daughter, Traci Burney, one grandson Zachary Burney; three sisters Joan Bullock, Sarah Freeman, Joyce Musselwhite, many nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Haynes Marvin Townsend and Lucille Hester Townsend, one sister Doris Tyler.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
