Jewell Rowland Lennon of Bladenboro was born on February 6, 1951 to the late C.W. and Lucille Rowland in Lumberton, and went to be with Jesus on July 20, 2026 at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Whiteville. Jewell was 75 years of age.

Throughout her life, Jewell was known for her deep compassion and commitment to nurturing others. Her genuine love for children was reflected in her distinguished service as a Mission Friends teacher at Galeed Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for around 30 years. She imparted lessons of faith and the importance of missions to countless young lives, leaving indelible impressions on her students.

Jewell's contributions extended into the broader community. She volunteered her time with the reading program at Bladenboro Primary School, nurturing a love for learning in young students and supporting their educational journeys. Her warmth, patience, and dedication to teaching and caring for children were hallmarks of her remarkable character.

Jewell was a cherished wife to Joe and loving mother to her daughter Jill Hester (James) and her son Joseph Lennon. Her family further includes grandchildren Austin (Becky), Jamison (Billy), and Blake, as well as great-grandchildren Bodhi, Graceson, Tucker, and Riggs. She is also survived by her sisters, Connie Wilcox and Marilyn Phillips. Along with her parents, Jewell was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn McCartney.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday July 25, 2026 at Galeed Baptist Church with Pastors Brett Young and Mack Roberts officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.

There will be a section set aside for her former Missions Friends students at the funeral.
