Joseph Paul Butler, was born on August 13, 1993, in Lumberton, North Carolina and passed away on March 4, 2026, He was 32 years young.
Joe was renowned for his infectious laughter and sharp wit, qualities that endeared him to many. He possessed a remarkable ability to find humor in everyday situations, often using his sarcasm and knack for joke-telling to elevate spirits around him. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout his life, Joe exhibited a strong spirit and determination to overcome adversity. He not only conquered his own struggles but also dedicated his time to encouraging others, leading many toward sobriety and a deeper connection to their faith in Jesus.
A proud member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, Joe embraced his Native American heritage with pride. He was a talented athlete, excelling in both baseball and basketball during his youth. In addition to his athletic prowess, Joe had a passion for music and fashion, often expressing himself through his writing and distinctive personal style. He followed in his father's footsteps by carrying the welding torch, continuing a family tradition.
Joe's love for his family was profound. He is survived by his devoted mother, Laura Butler; his loving sisters, Morgan Chavis and her husband John and Mary Butler; and a number of cherished nieces and nephews: Alina Jade Lewis, Madisyn Butler, Emersyn Butler, Layla Womack, and Landon Emanuel, Elyjah Bell, and Avery Chavis. The profound bonds he shared with his family brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
He was predeceased by his father, Marcus Paul Butler; his great-grandparents, Oscar and Filman Bell; and his grandfather, Yldefonso Gastellum.
Joe's girlfriend, Jd Lanier, and his many friends also played a significant role in his journey, offering him support and companionship. God, family, and friends were at the center of his world, guiding him through both triumphs and tribulations.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday March 8, 2026 in the Galeed Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Darrin Andrews officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are: Marc Nance, Josh Scoggins, Jason Hamilton, Nate Hamilton, Zelio Pereira, Mikey Gastellum.
Joe's legacy of kindness, humor, and determination will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. As we remember him, let us carry forward his spirit of compassion and his commitment to lifting others as he himself was lifted.
