Ronald "Gary" Hester, Sr., a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on October 12, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 14, 1951, Gary was for his caring and loving nature that touched the of all who knew.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Gary exemplified the values of service and dedication throughout his life. His passion for the military remained a significant part of his identity, shaping not only his principles but also the way he connected with those around him. He carried the spirit of camaraderie and loyalty from his time in service into his relationships with family and friends.
Ronald had a deep love for spending time with his family, cherishing every moment with them. He especially enjoyed bonding with his beloved grandchildren.
A man of simple pleasures, Ronald found great happiness in fishing and retreating to his treasured man cave, where he engaged in his hobbies and entertained friends. These moments brought him peace and contentment, reflecting his appreciation for life’s small joys.
Ronald is survived by his devoted children Charlotte Helms and her husband Sonny, Ronald Gary Hester, Jr., his brother Danny Hester and his wife Norma, his sister Glenda Allen and her husband Don. grandchildren Brandie Carter and her husband Adam, Victoria West, Caylee Willoughby and her husband Blake, and Leigha Hester along with 7 great Grandchildren his fur baby Lucky and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents David Hester and Lillie Priest Hester, and daughter in law Deena Hester.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM with a funeral service to take place at 2:00PM in the Bladenboro Funeral Chapel, with Pastor O'Neil Parker and Pastor Dale Hester officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service in the Butters Cemetery.

Ronald Gary Hester, Sr.'s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we remember him, we celebrate a life well lived and the enduring impact he had on his family and community.
